Oh well are they planning on an update for it? I mean in the meantime I will probably just use it in portrait mode.

Oh yeah and I noticed that when I got on the highway it showed me the speed limit. That was pretty sweet except for the fact that only half of the number was shown. You can make out the 70, but you could only see the top part of it. Is that a known glitch too?

i believe that would b a map problem.. i have speedlimits on my map without any problems.

im using a 3rd party free map (by a group of GPS mapping enthusiast which goes around the country taking tracks and update their map for free)

BTW, you might have noticed that Garmin XT won't recognize the addresses stored with your contacts - this is also a known "feature". Although you might have an address stored, it would still ask you to create a Garmin point for this contact by manually entering the address (or picking a point). A workaround is to add a Garmin Point tag for the contact - add the following text to the contact "Notes" section:
<GarminPoint lat="0.123456789" lon="-0.123456789"> <name>Last, First</name> <elev>0.0</elev> </GarminPoint>

lat= & lon= must be the address coordinates in radians, and elev is elevation in meters (not necessary). Any address can be converted into coordinates by using any of the freely available geocoders (e.g. http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/geocode). Note that those are usually in degrees that need to be converted in radians. Still some work, but easier that manually entering in Garmin, if you want your contacts tagged.

I guess the time has finally come that garmin decides to discontinue support and updates for Symbian devices.

The final release is the 5.00.60 which takes care of some of the problems we are facing.

Changes in v5.00.60:
- To improve the horizontal to vertical NOKIA 5800 screen problem
- NOKIA 5800 to improve the horizontal screen open "turn preview" issue
- To improve the NOKIA 5800 in the evening when the text mode

Note, the 5.00.60 is an update, not a standalone installation.
To update, just copy the files and override your current files in Garmin Folder, and run the SIS file from the phone to update it from v5.00.x to 5.00.60

Here is an update file I've uploaded.

here's an email reply from Garmin to an user from a Malaysian online gps community regarding the discontinuation concerns.
