Hey guys i bought a 5800 the other day and i was really happy with the free 12 month unlimited music download. However after i downloaded about 30 songs off nokia music website into my phone, i tried to play them on my phone but it keepon saying a lisences is required and ask me to get it. just wondering is there any other way other then signing up to obtain a licence to listen to my music, and what is the licence for anyway? thanks!

Wow, I really wish I could help you on this one.  Sad  But this sounds like you have the international version of the phone with the 1 year 'Comes With Music' option.  Us 'NAM' peeps get the free Amazon downloads.

Anyone else out there with some knowledge about the whole 'Comes With Music' feature of the International flavor 5800?

Umm... how did you download the music without signing up?

I also have a NAM (North American Model) so I don't have the Comes With Music bonus, but the way I understand it works is you have to sign up for the service and supply an license code that came with your phone. If you did that then the phone should have acquired the licenses for music you have downloaded.

And the license is for DRM (Digital Rights Management), a form of copy protection. The license basically controls the how, what, when and where of your media playing capabilities.

Until we get some people to reply to this that own the international version phone, your best bet is to contact Nokia about it. A bunch of us here have the NAM version and we did not get the 12 months of music with our phone purchase.

I have found that this tip I found on the Nokia Support Forum solved my problems so I hope that it helps you to.

If your computer has Microsoft Windows Vista:

To reset the DRM files on your PC, first close Nokia Music if it is running, and complete the following:
1. Select Start > Computer > Organize > Folders and search options.
2. Select View > Show hidden files and folders.
3. Unselect Hide protected operating system files/folders and Hide extensions for known file types.
4. Locate your DRM folder. The folder is located at C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\DRM from Nokia Music Store. If the DRM folder cannot be found, go through the steps above carefully, to ensure that the correct options are set.
5. Rename the DRM folder DRMBACKUP

If the DRM protected tracks from Nokia Music Store are now played, your system will perform a security upgrade, which resets all the necessary DRM files. Each track requests a new license when first played.
These five steps will resolve the DRM error message

If your computer has Microsoft Windows XP:

To reset the DRM files on your PC, first close Nokia Music if it is running, and complete the following:
1. Select Start > Run, type control folders, and press Enter.
2. Select View > Show hidden files and folders.
3.Unselect Hide protected operating system files/folders and Hide extensions for known file types.
4. Locate your DRM folder. The folder is located at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\DRM from Nokia Music Store. If the DRM folder cannot be found, go through the steps above carefully, to ensure that the correct options are set.
5. Rename the DRM folder DRMBACKUP

After this, please upgrade the DRM components using by visiting the link below:

I RESTARTED MY COMPUTER AS SOON AS I HAD DONE SAID TASKS !!
