Why would they want you to bring your phone to the nearest Nokia care center? I mean if you phone says you cannot update, what are they gonna do about it?

Also I would not mind hearing from Cell again to see what he thinks about his phone with that version on it. I mean it has been a little while now.

I tried again with a different product code that recently been updated on the Nokia
server but still mine did not find any update. I also noticed that when you change
the product code, the manufactured date changed as well, mine was manufactured
on week 56 and when I put in the other product code, it says that it was made on
week 51. I think there's still some other number in the phone that needs to be change
to get the updated software, not only the product code number. Any thoughts?

There is a new NAM update to v31.2.101 available through NSU. And this one is "official" so you do not need to alter product codes or any such nonsense. Just run PC Suite and Software Update and it should be there.

I tried FOTA and it said no updates. Sad But NSU worked, and I'm now on "official" NAM v31 firmware with my default (original) product code. Haven't played with it enough to find anything new/different.

Well I will definitely give it a try. I am on the edge. If this does not fix my phone problems. It is going up on ebay. And I am gonna try a whole new company cause the two Nokia phones I have had have given me nothing but issues. They just keep hanging up on people. There is no reason when you are in a solid 3g area. I even turned off 3g and was in very solid Edge areas and the same thing. Thanks for the update Cell.

Wow, look at all the firmware updates since I started this thread. We are now up to v50.2.005 for RM-428 North American Models (NAM). To get the latest firmware use my instructions from the first post with the following product code.

0592207: 5800 RM-428 NAM Region US Black FREE NAVI V2

Or if you still have patience, wait for them to release v50 for the more common NAM product codes (0577454 XM, 0591814 Navi). Personally, I'm not big on waiting. Wink

And here we go again... yet another firmware update for the good ol' 5800!

Firmware V 51.2.007 is now available for product code 0574994 (NA Black)

I have not tested this yet, so use at your own risk.

Many on Howardforums are saying this update is available over the air for the default NAM 0577454 code, but my phones cannot see it. To check for OTA updates dial *#0000# then go to Options and Check for updates.

If you can not see the OTA update you can use my instructions from the 1st post with product code 0574994 and update with NSU.

Aloha, Tim

PS: if you do find the OTA update let me know.

I am still on version  40.2.005 and I believe I have 0591814. At this point is it worth it going through the proceedure to update to the 50 version?   Will it work on this phone?
I kinda disappointed with this 5800 even though some features I like.  I did outright purchase it 6 months ago so I have to deal with it till I get some fruitful usage out of it.

The 5800 Navi (0591814) should have v51 available now, so you can update using the official software update app (or use FOTA with a WiFi or data connection). It's also out for 0577454 (NAM XM).

I like the v50 & v51 firmware, so I'd recommend updating. Auto full-screen on the browser is very nice. Flash has a minor update (still 9.1, but a newer build than in the Flash-Lite update for v40). V51 also has a newer browser, but I haven't seen much difference yet.

What are you disappointed with?

I did finally get version 51.2.007 on Oct 7 I think I posted it in another thread.
What I am mainly disappointed with is the Real Player that is on here.  I like to watch live tv feeds and they work on Windows Media Player using a PC.  But the issue on the phone is that many of them either the only video will play or only the audio with play very few will play properly (video and audio).
For example I figured out that if the audio is not sample rate of 22khz at 22kbps all bets are off that audio will play on the phone. Certain resolutions will play like 320 x 240 but like 640x 360 or 480 wont play. It frustrating because I love the phone and I hate the phone at the same time.
Everyone seems to be gun-ho with Core Player but the version for the 5800 is not out yet and even still I don't know if it will play all the feeds I want to watch, nobody seems to look at full functionality of the software in comments that I seen.
The other issue is getting a native VOIP CLIENT for this version of Phone. Yea everyone points to the N97 can do it but nobody provides a step by step on how to make it work on the 5800.  Frustrating.

Hi, I learned that the 52.0.007 is out for certain product codes, has anyone managed to update to it on RM-428 and what code did you use?
