i finnally got this to work.must have been operator error cause it was really easy.

thanks to Lowyat.com for the tip

There are times when a person gets tired of the way his/her phone’s UI looks, on most occasions the simple task of changing the theme acts as a refreshment, but those of you who seek more - read on. Changing fonts on the 5800 is a simple matter of copying a folder across and restarting the phone, the process takes under 2 minutes and should you want to go back to the original fonts, that takes even lesser time.

Below are a few demos of different fonts on the 5800, there is a download link at the bottom of each set should you decide to try the font on your own device.

PROCEDURE TO APPLY NEW FONTS
* Connect the phone in the ‘Mass Storage’ profile to the computer. Alternatively, you can use the memory card reader.
* Goto the Memory Card, it shows up as a Removable Disk in ‘My Computer’. (Windows)
* Navigate to the ‘resource’ folder and open it.
* Copy the ‘Fonts’ folder into in. (Download links to Sample folders below)
* Eject the device and restart.
* You should see the new fonts applied.

here are three sample font folders....make sure the folder is named 'fonts'

Fonts1 <---- download
fonts2  <----
fonts3  <----

if you look in the fonts folders they are all the same name(in the seperate folders)
this is what you need to name the fonts if you make your own

i am using font1 and LOVE IT

Ok I have a question about all of this. If you are using a theme, do the fonts not apply? Cause I did what you said above and my fonts did not change. I very well could have screwed up though.

Ok I figured it out. Not hard at all. I put the entire folder in there that you gave us starting with fonts1, but deleted the 1. Just fixed it and it works good now. Thanks man.

If the resourse file was on the mem card don't worry about it.  I reformatted my mem card, out of necessity because of stupidity, and lost the resourse folder along with everything else.  And I just looked and I don't have a resourse file on the phone mem so you should be fine.  It was at this point I told myself the font on the phone was just fine! This is a great hack! I didn't have a resource folder on my memory card so I just made one and it worked fine. Love the font, I chose the one you have on display.

Fun!
