Okay, this kinda sucks for people who just bought a 5800 Nav Edition for free navigation, and even more for people who have a paid subscription, but Nokia is now offering their drive & walk voice guided navigation for FREE to everyone! Well, almost everyone, you must have a supported phone...
This is in response to Google offering free navigation in the US for Android phones, but Nokia did them one better because their Ovi Maps navigation is available worldwide!
Mobile navigation for everyone:
Ovi Maps takes you where you want to be and shows you what you want see, with navigable maps for over 70 countries worldwide. All this with only one click. And it's all free.
* Free Drive navigation
* Free Walk navigation
* Free maps and map updates
* Free Events guides
* Free Lonely Planet guides
* Free Michelin guidesAnd yes, the 5800XM is one of the supported phones (even NAM). You just need to have firmware v31+ and get the new Ovi Maps 3.3 application from Nokia. Be warned it's a memory hog. It'll burn up 15+ MB of your C: drive space (+ room on your memory card for maps). However, it works very well. It is a HUGE improvement over the 2.0 version originally included with the 5800XM!

http://maps.nokia.com/explore-services/ovi-maps/downloads#/nokia-5800-xpressmusic/If you already have updated to Maps 3.0 or 3.1 then your maps are current. If you still have the 2.0 maps then they will need to be deleted and new (free) maps downloaded. Grab the latest version of Nokia Map Loader and you can download free maps for more than 70 countries to your memory card.
And yes, since the Map/POI data is pre-loaded to your MicroSD card, you will not burn up tons of data like with Google Maps. Turn off the Assisted-GPS feature to use even less data (possibly no data if you don't use the satellite map view). Note: it will take longer to get a sat-lock without A-GPS.
